Shannon joined Comox Physiotherapy Clinic in August 1998. She is a passionate physiotherapist who is driven to learn as much as she can to help her patients along their wellness journeys. Her expertise is focused in the areas of pelvic health physiotherapy and cancer recovery physiotherapy and lymphedema.
Shannon received her physiotherapy degree from Queen’s University in 1994, followed by a number of different courses including muscle energy, myofascial release, craniosacral, and orthopaedic manual therapy. In 2001, Shannon traveled to Alberta to spend a week of intensive training in the rehabilitation of horses. She has also had the pleasure of assisting in the rehabilitation efforts with wild birds at MARS (Mountainaire Avian Rescue Society. In the last decade, she has narrowed her scope of practice to focus only on the areas where she provides considerable expertise - pelvic health, cancer recovery, and lymphedema.

Cancer Recovery and Breast Health Shannon has been treating women following Breast Cancer surgery since 1996. She recommends that you come in for a consultation and treatment 2 weeks following surgery. She will deal with such topics as lymphedema (swelling, often caused from radiation treatments or the removal of lymph nodes), tethering, increasing the movement of the arm and shoulder, increasing muscle strength, managing pain and help monitoring your activities to avoid overworking the arm affected.
She is also able to provide specific ultrasound therapy for nursing women with blocked milk ducts or mastitis.
Pelvic Health Physiotherapy Shannon’s professional career has also encompassed extensive training in pelvic floor physiotherapy. Her numerous post-graduate courses have included given her expertise in treating many pelvic health conditions including, urinary and fecal incontinence in women and men, pelvic organ prolapse, pessary fitting for prolapse, pelvic floor muscle re-education and lifestyle modifications and treating pelvic pain syndromes such as vestibulodynia, coccyx pain and painful intercourse.
Lymphedema Shannon is a Certified Lymphedema Therapist and has pursued and passed the challenging membership exam from LANA (Lymphology Association of North America). She is qualified and experienced in providing Complete Decongestive Therapy for both primary and secondary lymphedema. She is a custom compression garment fitter of Jobst compression garment options for lymphedema. She also is able to provide compression bandaging and manual lymph drainage massage as options for lymphedema management.
