Comox Physiotherapy Clinic overlooks the beautiful Comox Harbour at our convenient and central downtown location on Comox Avenue.

Since opening our doors in 1992, we have been serving local Comox Valley residents from Courtenay, Cumberland and Comox, Denman Island, Hornby Island, and as well, many people travel from Campbell River and other areas on Vancouver Island to receive physiotherapy treatment here.

There are three registered physiotherapists in our Comox Valley based clinic – Shannon Lawrence, Linda Maasz, and Gillian Clayton.  There is also one Exercise Physiologist – Kelly Mackenzie.

What do we do?

We treat a wide variety of physical problems resulting from motor vehicle accidents (MVA), on the job accidents (WorkSafeBC), and sports participation as well as urinary incontinence, pelvic pain syndromes and injuries sustained from gardening, falling, overuse and exercise. (For example, a few common complaints include lower back pain, neck pain, shoulder injuries and migraines.)

How do we do it?

Many different types of therapy are used in our clinic. Our therapists have expertise in physiotherapy, Manual Therapy, Craniosacral Therapy, Myotherapy, Acupuncture, Pelvic Pain Syndromes, Breast Cancer Therapy Post-SurgeryUrinary Incontinence, Vestibular Rehabilitation and Visceral Manipulation. Treatment may also use ultrasound, laser, TENS, and heat or ice as needed.

The exercise equipment we use for treatment may include exercise bikes, ski machine (fitter), pulleys, tubing, and therapy balls.

What can you expect when you call our clinic?

When you call our office, you will reach one of our office staff. Lauren, Denise, Kaleigh, and Jasmine will be happy to help find a time that is convenient for you.

The registered physiotherapist you will see for your treatment will depend on your availability, their schedule of availability, your preference, and the type of treatment required. You will be asked for your name, the injured area to be treated, your phone number, the cause of injury (to determine ICBC, WorkSafeBC, Private or MSP), and whether a physician referred you.

What can you expect when you arrive for your session?

Our clinic is very spacious (1700 square feet) and bright, with individual (private) cubicles for your assessment and treatment, and also has a large open area for exercise therapy.
